During our shoot at Stryn Sommerski last week, PC did (As far as we know) the first ever double misty 810 off a rail! One of Norway’s biggest newspapers, VG, did a video interview about it that you can see below.

Tittelen på årets Chaoz-film, Turbulent Flow, gjenspeiler fjorårets skisesong. Men med en kreativ produsent og ivrige skikjørere fikk publikum på Ballroom absolutt en skifilm for pengene!

– Urbanparten var skikkelig kul med masse nye elementer, sier de to kameratene Eivind Holte og Kristoffer Lian (14) som hadde tatt turen til Ballroom lørdag. Med Chaoz-plakat full av autografer fra kjørerne var gutta godt fornøyd med premieren. Det var ingen tvil om hvem som hadde gjort mest inntrykk.

– Kim (Boberg) har den feteste stilen!

Gutta dro hjem med inspirasjon til kommende skisesong, men begge skulle kunne ønske at de hadde fått noen minutter til foran skjermen på Ballroom.

– Kunne bare ønske den var lenger, var siste kommentar fra Kristoffer og Eivind.

Vanskelig sesong

Sjefen selv, Eivind Aurstad, tok det som et kompliment at gutta ønska akkurat det.

– Ingenting er bedre enn at noen vil se mer, det hadde vært verre om folk begynte å kjede seg under filmen, var hans svar.

Fjorårets vinter var for skigutta lik filmens tittel; Turbulent Flow. Aurstad forteller at film gir et ærlig svar på hvor vanskelig skifilmskapning faktisk er.

– Turbulent Flow viser hvordan vi gikk fra å ha alt planlagt, til at alt gikk til helvete på grunn av en dårlig snøsesong. Det ble gjort forandringer hele tida, forteller en tydelig oppgitt filmskaper.

– Årets skifilm!

Aurstad er kjent for å aldri være 100 prosent fornøyd med resultatet, da er det enda godt kjørerne hadde klar tale. De fleste hadde tatt turen til Oslo, en av dem var Lars Haakon Hafsal.

– Gjennom hele filmen ser du  at vi slet med dårlig snø, men jeg er veldig fornøyd, spesielt med tanke på urbanbiten vi fikk til. Her er det mye nytt og kult, mener Hafsal.

– Det er jo årets skifilm! Sier han med et smil.

Hafsal har mange bra minner fra innspillingen, men fallet i Åre har klistra seg fast.

Da visning nr. 2 gikk av stabelen var Ballroom fylt av den eldre garde av skientusiaster. Med glasset høyt hevet fikk filmen jubel og velfortjent applaus. Filmen skal vises flere steder i landet, så sjekk ut når Chaoz Productions er i din by!

We’re proud to announce that our new movie, Turbulent Flow, has been selected to be one of 15 professional movies at the International Freeski Film Festival (iF3) this year! Currently iF3 is the biggest gathering of independent movie producers in skiing and draws producers, athletes, and event attendees from all over the world. This year, IF3 will take place in Montreal (Canada) September 12-16, Annecy (France) September 28-30 and Innsbruck (Austria) October 5-6.

iF3 History

The International Freeski Film Festival (iF3) was created in 2007 as a result of a common idea shared by passionate ski industry veterans Felix Rioux, Doug Bishop, and JF Durocher. The idea was to create a film festival dedicated to screening freeskiing movies and expanding ski culture to new levels.

iF3 stemmed from the need to unite all elements that compose freeski culture in one place, including ski cinematography, producers, athletes, photography, brands, music, art and parties.

Currently iF3 is the biggest gathering of independent movie producers in skiing and draws producers, athletes, and event attendees from 20+ countries. Both fan participation and video submission has increased every year since the event’s inception. Since the first edition of iF3, the roster has grown from 11 professional and 5 amatuer entries to over 35 professional and amateur films, shorts, documentaries, and webisodes in 2011. In addition to expanding the film roster, iF3 progressively added initiatives such as the outdoor movie screenings, a European installment of the festival in Annecy, France in 2010 that introduced a photography exhibit, and the largest ski Autograph Session ever at Oberson Ski Shop in 2011.

The Festival has come along way since 2007 and the progression is yet to end. New events and initiatives are being added to the 2012 festival. That being said, our core focus remains the same: the unite and promote all aspects of freeskiing, and to honour and celebrate the producers, photographers, athletes and everyone else that contributes to the constant progression of the ski industry.

Last week we completed this years last shoot for our upcoming movie, at Folgefonna.

Folgefonna is a glacier located on the west coast, and is the third largest glacier in the mainland of Norway. The glacier is home to a summer skiing resort, located on its northern region. The ski resort, in collaboration with Sabotage SB, built a kicker for our shoot, and gave us a really nice ending to the season.

The crew was Gaute Silseth, Espen Bergh, Øystein Bråten, Frederick Iliano, Vegard Øye, Eivind Aurstad (Film), Kristofer Fahlgren (Film) and Sverre Hjørnevik (Photo). Even Lars Haakon Hafsal (Who hurt his knee in Åre in May) joined us, and helped the crew.
The weather at Fonna was changing all the time, and for a moment we were not sure if the shoot was going to happen. But it did! After hours of waiting at the cafeteria, we got a beautiful sunset, and all the guys was throwing down hard!

After a long and turbulent winter, it feels good to be done. Now it’s time for post production the rest of the summer. Look out for the trailer, dropping in a couple of weeks!

Even if it’s May 31st, there’s still a lot of snow on the west coast of Norway. Last week we took the opportunity to travel all the way to Sunnmøre, and finish of the big mountain season.

Sunnmørsalpene is a collective term for the mountains range in Sunnmøre, Norway. The mountain range encircles the Hjørundfjorden in the municipalities of Volda, Ørsta, Stranda, and Sykkylven. These mountains have peaks reaching 1,700 meters (5,600 ft) straight up from the fjord, which gave the crew unique scenery to work with.

Sagafjord Hotel, the hotel where we stayed, even hooked us up with a 53 feet yacht for a couple of days! In other words, we spent a lot of time on the fjord when not skiing. We took the opportunity to even try some fishing, which resulted in Dennis getting a 5 kg coalfish! Way to go!

Hey there fellas,

Last week me and Kim were up in Åre with Chaoz Productions for the first park kicker shoot this year. Things were looking really good, and Laffa Matsson built what looked like at the first sight; an epic park kicker with superepic backdrop. The crew was Thomas Dølplads, PC Fosse, Øystein Bråthen Kim Boberg, Eivind Aurstad (Mr. Chaoz), Ante Olofsson (filmer), Andreas Storm Fausko (photographer) and me.

Since the weather on monday was crap, we were just cruising around the main park and trying to get the “park feeling” back.

Theres always superdupersketchy to try out a kicker for the first time, but Kim took one for the team and tested it. He went too short and knuckled, so I took a little bit more speed then he did, but heeeeeey WTF, I flew faaar away over the landing while I thought this is going to be bad. Really bad.

And yeah, I ended up here. Worst crash I’ve ever had on skis I guess. I broke my leg and fucked up my knee really bad (Dont know if torn ACL, or what, cause I haven’t done MR yet) and at least I had to get a Compression Fracture in my back again. Got my 2008 season busted cause of that injury.

Unfortunately no one got it on tape, since it was in the beginning and the filmers where busy setting up the camera equipment.

Plans for summer: Exercise this shit up again!
